Abstract: 

In this article, spectral matching of ground motions is presented via the Mouth brooding fish (MBF) algorithm that is recently developed. It is based on Mouth brooding fish life cycle. This algorithm utilizes the movements of the Mouth brooding fish and their children’s struggle for survival as a pattern to find the best possible answer. For this purpose, wavelet transform is used to decompose the original ground motions to several levels and then each level is multiplied by a variable. Subsequently, this algorithm is employed to determine the variables and wavelet transform modifies the recorded accelerograms until the response spectrum gets close to a specified design spectrum. The performance of this algorithm is investigated through a numerical example and also it is compared with CBO and ECBO algorithms. The numerical results indicate that the MBF algorithm can to construct very promising results and has merits in solving challenging optimization problems.

Abstract: 

In this paper, the optimum design of a reinforced concrete one-way ribbed slab, is presented via recently developed metaheuristic algorithm, namely, the Mouth brooding fish (MBF). Meta-heuristics based on evolutionary computation and swarm intelligence are outstanding examples of nature-inspired solution techniques. The MBF algorithm simulates the symbiotic interaction strategies adopted by organisms to survive and propagate in the ecosystem. This algorithm uses the movement, dispersion and protection behavior of Mouth brooding fish as a pattern to find the best possible answer. The cost of the system is considered to be the objective function, and the design is based on the American Concrete Institute’ s ACI 318-08 standard. The performance of this algorithm is compared with harmony search (HS), colliding bodies optimization (CBO), particle swarm optimization (PSO), democratic particle swarm optimization (DPSO), charged system search (CSS) and enhanced charged system search (ECSS). The numerical results demonstrate that the MBF algorithm is able to construct very promising results and has merits in solving challenging optimization problems.

Abstract: 

Tower cranes are essential for both vertical and horizontal movement of materials in construction and port operations. Optimizing their placement is crucial for reducing costs and enhancing overall efficiency. This study addresses the optimization of tower crane placement using the recently developed Mouth brooding fish (MBF) algorithm. The MBF algorithm is inspired by the life cycle of Mouth-brooding fish, employing their behavioral patterns and the survival challenges of their offspring to find optimal solutions. The performance of the MBF algorithm is compared with the Genetic algorithm (GA), Colliding Bodies Optimization (CBO), and Enhanced Colliding Bodies Optimization (ECBO). The results demonstrate that the MBF algorithm is effective and has potential advantages in tackling complex optimization problems.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Bicuspid pulmonary valve as a rare cardiac anomaly results in hemodynamic alterations leading to aneurysmal dilation of the pulmonary artery (PA), which has been reported in association with other heart defects. Pulmonic stenosis is usually presented as a part of a complicated disease (e. g. tetralogy of Fallot) or in association with other abnormalities such as corrected transposition of great arteries, although it can be developed as a distinct entity. Case Presentation: The case described in this study was a 36-year-old man with a history of syncope and dyspnea. The complementary studies revealed isolated bicuspid PS and aneurysmally dilated main PA. Conclusion: Both main PA aneurysm and fish Mouth bicuspid pulmonary valve are rare cardiac anomalies that are sometimes presented in association with other heart diseases. Pulmonic stenosis can occur as an isolated anomaly but more often is a part of complex defects. The present report emphasizes the fact that an isolated bicuspid anomaly of the pulmonary valve may be compatible with normal cardiac anatomy and remain uneventful even on its own accord, although our case presented signs and symptoms of severe pulmonic stenosis at the age of 36.

Abstract: 

This article introduces two swarm intelligent algorithms, a group search optimizer (GSO) and an artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA). A single intelligent algorithm always has both merits in its specific formulation and deficiencies due to its inherent limitations. Therefore, we propose a mixture of these algorithms to create a new hybrid optimization algorithm known as the group search-artificial fish swarm algorithm (GS-AFSA). This algorithm has been applied to three different discrete truss optimization problems. The optimization results are compared with those obtained using the standard GSO, the AFSA and the quick group search optimizer (QGSO). The proposed GS-AFSA eliminated the shortcomings of GSO regarding falling into the local optimum by taking advantage of AFSA’s stable convergence characteristics and achieving a better convergence rate and convergence accuracy than the GSO and the AFSA. Furthermore, the GS-AFSA has a superior convergence accuracy compared to the QGSO, all while solving a complicated structural optimization problem containing numerous design variables.

Abstract: 

fish tank or swimming granuloma caused by Mycobacterium marinum is an opportunist pathogen commonly found in aquatic environments. We present a 16 year-old boy with frequent exposure to aquarium water who had several nodules (sprotrichoid forms) on his right hand.Pervious studies showed that fish tank granuloma is a rare skin infection (0.27 per 100,000 population in one year). However, taking proper history and considering the patient’s signs and symptoms could be helpful in diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract: 

Mimetic Coral Reefs Optimization (MCRO) has proven highly effective for feature selection due to its capacity to explore diverse solution spaces, enhancing model accuracy and robustness. However, integrating MCRO with local search techniques remains challenging, as it tends to be computationally intensive and prone to premature convergence. To address these issues, this paper introduces a Rank-based Adaptive brooding (RAB) mechanism, designed to refine the local mimetic search strategy within MCRO. RAB adaptively adjusts the brooding operator based on the ranks of coral larvae, minimizing disruption to high-rank larvae and harnessing the exploratory potential of lower-rank larvae. This approach promotes a more balanced exploration-exploitation trade-off, leading to faster convergence and enhanced performance in complex problem spaces. The proposed method's efficacy is tested across eight UCI datasets using KNN, Decision Tree, and SVM classifiers, and the results are evaluated by precision, recall, and F1 score. Empirical results reveal that RAB outperforms existing adaptive strategies with fixed brooding, delivering superior feature selection performance, particularly in high-dimensional datasets. Additionally, the optimization capabilities of RAB were examined using 39 CEC benchmark functions, revealing consistent improvements in feature selection accuracy while demonstrating variable outcomes in broader optimization tasks. Notably, RAB showed significant enhancements in eight benchmark cases, highlighting its potential for broader applicability in optimization scenarios.
